COACH LAUNCHES OWN BUSINESS IN A BID TO INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION IN GREATER MANCHESTER - 20th Jun 2011
A sports coach has set up a new business in a bid to inspire local children with a passion for health and fitness.
Adam Speers, 21, has taken on his own franchise under the wing of the UK’s biggest coaching company, Premier Sport – and is now offering schools in the area free sports sessions.
Adam, who has been employed as a coach for the company for four years, will be working across Trafford in Sale and Stretford, and Stockport in Bramhall, Hazel Grove and Marple, delivering breakfast, lunch and after school clubs in up to 21 sports as well as curricular time coaching in PE lessons.
Premier Sport is dedicated to developing innovative sports coaching which will help children to live a healthy, fit life, and successfully delivers coaching to more than 150,000 children every week.
The company is backed by big-named sporting ambassadors including rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio, Olympic gold medallist Duncan Goodhew and former rugby league champion Paul Sculthorpe.
Adam, from Warrington, completed a Btec national sport diploma at Lymm High School Sixth form, where he was part of the college team which won the national basketball championships.
He will offer PE coaching both in and out of school hours as well as holiday camps with his team of coaches under the Premier Sport umbrella – and is already delivering after school basketball to pupils at Wellfield Infants in Sale, and tennis to Moss Hey Primary in Bramhall.
“I’ve worked for Premier Sport for four years now and feel running my own part of the business is the next step in my career,” he said.
“Sport in school is vital for children’s health and well- being, as well as giving them so many other valuable life skills. I really hope I can use my experience to bring more, better quality sport to the children of Greater Manchester, whatever their ability.”
