PREMIER SPORT HELP THE YOUNG & UNEMPLOYED - 19th Sep 2011
169 young people from all corners of the country are now employed by Premier Sport, as a result of an initiative to support the creation of jobs for long term unemployed young people and others who face significant disadvantage in the labour market.
The Future Jobs Fund was run by the Department for Work and Pensions, in partnership with the Department for Communities and Local Government with input from Jobcentre Plus and Regional Government Offices in England.
Premier Sport trained and mentored 262 candidates through the duration of the 6 month contract, whilst supporting them to become qualified sports coaches in the process.
64.5% of these candidates still remain employed following their graduation from the scheme.
Some participants from the scheme have even graduated further, and set up their own Franchised business with Premier Sport, most notably, Ben Eshelby who was recently awarded ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the recent Franchisee award ceremony.
Thanks to the scheme Ben and others like him are not only in full time employment, but they are also EMPLOYING their own staff, supporting more young people into employment and teaching more children in local communities!
